Default Purchase advice

Looking for some purchase advice from some of you Dyna guys.

I am going to be upgrading from my Sportster to either a Street Bob or Low Rider sometime very soon. Some of the bikes I'm looking at have what I consider to be fairly high mileage. One bike in particular is a really nice looking and clean 07 Street Bob with 41,000 miles on it. It's a one owner bike, and it appears to be in good shape from a visual standpoint.

My question is....What do you guys consider high mileage for a used Dyna assuming the bike has been well taken care of?

I'm also having trouble deciding if I should spend a little more money to get a newer bike for the sole purpose of getting the 96/6 speed, but I guess thats just a matter of personal preference.

Thanks

DO IT! I upgraded from a Sportster Custom in April to an 06 StreetBob. You won't regret it one bit, I know I haven't. Look around a little before you throw the money down. you should be able to find a lot lower mileage rides. You will want the 96" and the 6 speed. When I had my sportster I would always try to find that elusive 6th gear.

I think you will definitely enjoy a street bob or any dyna coming from a sportster. I have an 88/6 speed and it is just fine for me I have plenty of power when i need it. Not saying that i wouldnt mind have a newer 96 someday but the 88 does just fine. If the 88 down the road is not big enough for you, you can always upgrade it to a 95. If you have the money to get a newer one or one with lower miles on it I would recommend that.

Once you get a six speed you will love it. If the bike has been maintained right and not beat on then that mileage should not concern you.

I picked up my 07 96" Bob for 9k and 8k some odd miles. It allready had, apes, ness mirrors c&c seat, progressive suspension front and rear, sert, python pipes, new tires a box of takeoff parts and a transferable warranty till 2014 with wheel and tire included.

I had to drive about 5 hours to get it but it's been well worth it.

Take your time and look around, if that 07 bike is a killer deal go for. To many variables to say without seeing it in person but if the bike I bought had that for mileage I wouldn't have paid more than about 6500-7000. Again that's just me.

I'd personally look at a 1/1.5 year old bike if you can stretch with the $$$, so you will have some time left with the warranty. It would then be a 96"/6 speed, which is still a current production engine. On a 1/1.5 year old bike i would be concerned about mileage up to 30k, provided it has been serviced at the right interval by a HD official mechanic.

Nearly 2 years ago I bought (off c/l) my stock (w/ Iso-Grips, sissy bar and SE Pro tuner) '09 TC96 6-speed w/ 6600 miles for $9k from the original owner who supplied both original keys, both original security fobs and owner's manual.

Avoid high mileage and modified bikes. Look for a late, low mileage, STOCK cream puff for sale by original owner (minor modifications like grips won't matter). Have your financing/cash already lined up to facilitate jumping on the right bike when a deal presents itself. I used one of those credit card promotional checks for 3.9% at 12 months, paying it off before the interest went up; bank put it directly into my checking account, then issued a cashiers check when I showed up w/ the seller.

I Had a 07 Dyna, 96/6 and it was a great bike, it had only 12000 km's on it and rode well sold it for 10 K. It handled nicely and the motor had lots of go, had a stage one and vance & hines pipes. Its nice to have a 1550 out there when you want it, you won't regret the power.
