Anyone done a wide glide fender on their Fat Bob? Good / Bad?
Dyna Glide ModelsSuper Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide Custom, Dyna Glide Convertible, Super Glide T-Sport, Dyna Glide Police, Dyna Switchback, Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Wide Glide.
I'm doing the opposite, with a 96 WG and I know the struts have an extra hole because the WG fenders are longer. Also dose the new fender your buying have the mounting bracket(bucket) for your tail light?Again I don't know the year of your bike but those things mentioned might be a bump in the road, nothing you cant work around.
- Went through a couple different iterations for the wiring to rear lights. Tried to keep the Fatbob circuit board, but it just didn't fit right. Eventually made a frankenstein harness for everything that works.
- One turn signal stopped working shortly after; turns out the wiring was rubbing and several other wires were close to toast as well.
- I'm running a license plate holder from Great Cycle Gear, Detachable Backrest, and Ghost Brackets for hardbags; all three use the same bolts and it's a tight squeeze.
Looks good T.J. HDexplorer, I think you should go for it. There are always little hiccups no matter what advice you get so good luck. The end result looks to be well worth it from the looks of T.J.'s ride.
I appreciate the advice. I'm definatly going to do it. Just looking for any problems people had while doing it and after it was done. The fender appears to be a no-brainer its the wiring, location of tailight and license plate, and keeping the mounts for my sissy bar, (keeps the girlfriend on the bike). Done my research just want to know if anyone would do it differently.
i used the same circuit from my original tail light and then i extended the wires since i put the circuit under the seat. for the lic plate, i mounted it on the side and wired it to the same circuit. i got a badlands run-brake-turn module to convert the turn signals to running light and brake.
Me and a buddy did mine in an afternoon. Search Fat Bob/Wide Glide fender and you'll find a list of parts you need to do it right. I ended up using the HD run/stop/turn module and the HD Edge Tail Light kit. Added a Figure Machine plate mount and its good to go
