Default Tonights work / mods

Well, I went and bought one of the Harbor freight bike lifts, and a wheel dock chock. the wheel clamp that comes with it is almost useless, and for 35 bucks the camming dock chock makes one person loading really easy. I also pinned the removable panel for pulling the back wheel so it would not slip around when i rolled the bike up it. all in all it cost me $366 with a 2 year warranty. and i have to say being able to have the bike at waist height is alot better then trying to work on it on the ground.

So after getting that done, I wheeled the bike up and installed my fuel moto air cleaner, removed the ridged sissy bar plates, installed the QD brackets for remove able plates and installed the edge brackets.

The edge brackets were actually a real pain to get in as some of the docking hardware was a little narrow and some of the powder coating was a little thick on the plates. after shimming the brackets so they were all in line the way there were supposed to be, I had to play musical chairs with the docking hardware to get it to work, but after about 45 minutes they seem to be working, but will need some time to break in.

I do have to admit i am really impressed with how ridged the edge brackets feel. Also with the harley QD hardware behind them they will hold a set of hard bags out so that they will miss the shocks.

I found a shovel head tour pack locally and am going out to check it out tomorrow morning. Also still playing with the idea of getting cams as i will be pulling my current exhaust soon and replacing it with the python 2 into one set up.

Just out of curiosity is it normal to need to squeeze the detatchable sissy bars together to get them to fit on or should it just drop on with no problem?

I have to squeeze mine a little bit to get it on. Does not seem to be an issue though.

I mean you have to squeeze it like you mean it, probably about an inch and a half or so

That's a LOT of squeezing! haha. Seriously, that is more than typical. You may want to ride it to the dealer and try another sissy bar to see whether it's the particular sissy bar you have OR if you need to shim something on your bike. That just seems like way too much. I can understand 1/4" or so per side but not an inch or more.... my .02$

Make sure you don't have the area backwards. The screws should be inside.
