hmmmmmmmm. i wonder why no one else is not using this tire size. I am not saying that you have a different rim. but i thought it would have a problem with the bead on the tire.
also is this something that works for a solo rider but is not safe for 2 up riding
also wondering if the perelli night dragon tire is skinnier then donlop, than I could run a 200 tire because that would be like a 180-190 metzler tire?
I was asking the same questions you are. The shop I had mount and balance the tire builds Harley drag bikes the only thing he said was because of the low profile 2up rideing would be a rough ride. I ride alone 99% of the time. I must say that the stock tire looked just as wide if not a little wider.
My new best friend say my dealer says he has tried it and the 200 looked Realy balloned up. It has a tube in it so it's going to hold air . It just may perform a little different. Him and his friend are have ordered in a new outer wheel only. And are going to reuse the hub and maybe the spokes. Said something about the bairings in the hub $$ or different OS something. I'll let them try it first.
You guys have to understand that manufacturers have to give safe guidelines to prevent lawsuits. It doesn't mean it can't be done. Just look at other guidelines that you break. MOCO says you can't run a 200 without a wide tire kit. They say you can't bore the cylinders past 95" or 103". Think of all of the other guidelines in life that are BS. If a 180 fits on a 4.5, why do you have to make the rim 1.5" wider to go 3/4"? Will it balloon a little too much for some? Sure. Others will like it fine. I can point out the stretched tire craze that kids are doing on their cars. The rim is wider than what's called for on the tire. No problems with beads.
200mm Avon on my Fat Bob with a 5.0" rim with no problems...
I looked at many 200s and they were not all the same in overall width.
Make sure whatever you choose is not at the high end of the width range
