I was thinking about ordering some of the PJ1 wrinkle black to paint a few covers with. Just curious what everyone's experience with the paint has been?

Welcome to the Forum.
Don't have any experience with PJ1 paints, but I've used VHT Wrinkle Black on some parts - comes out almost identical to the MoCo's factory finish. Does need curing in an oven or kiln for best results.

VHT paint here as well. I needed two coats and twice in the oven to get it to look right. There's some pics here
How has the VHT held up to the elements? (rock chips, heat, etc.) I am looking to paint both primary covers top and side tranny covers and timing cover.

According to the mfr, VHT Wrinkle is good up to 350°F which is hotter than what the primary covers run at. For protection you can add a coat of "satin" or "matte" clear on top of the wrinkle - makes for easier cleaning and will help prevent the smaller chips/nicks from forming.
If you prep your parts carefully and apply the paint as per the instructions the end result will be durable and long-lasting. Hope it works out for you.
