Does that mean all nascar stock cars, indy cars and formula 1 cars are badly tuned? My bike has been dyno tuned and pops a little on decel also.

XIEDs will keep your engine running at a happier fuel ratio. All fuel tuners attempt to do the same thing, some better than others. XIEDs are the poor mans solution, but they work. You won't get optimal fuel mileage from them, but they'll keep your engine running cooler by correcting the overly lean condition.

Mike seems to know a lot of people with popping bikes, I know many correctly tuned, tight exhausted with ZERO decel popping. Popping is often caused by puffs of fresh air introduced into the exhaust system and reigniting unburned fuel in the pipes. Yes, it's common, it's also easily corrected when you nail down the source. Normal? No.

No but then none of them are Harleys or even street machines. You are comparing oranges and apples.

If its popping much on decel then its either poorly tuned (whether by dyno or not) or because of poorly designed exhausts, usually ones like V&H Shortshots.

We have very different definitions of decel popping. Harleys with high flow a/c and open exhaust pipes are nothing similar to Nascar stock cars, indy cars and formula 1 cars.
It's your bike, if you like it popping, let it pop. I'm out of here, it's 70 degrees and I'm taking my non popping bike out for a ride.

Popping on deceleration? I thought that was a feature, not a problem.

my dads bike is professionally dyno tuned, it still pops, my buddies dyna is professionally dyno tuned, it still pops, my uncles bike is professionally dyno tuned, it still pops. sure mine pops more then theirs, but its going to happen when you change stuff like that out. my old ironhead popped to with the cycle shacks and mikuni carb and i had that tuned perfectly.
Just because they are professionals doesn't mean they got it right. There are a lot of people out there with bad tunes. When I decided to lay down the cash I made sure I had one of the best tuners and dyno operators. My bike popped before but not anymore. Popping is usually from a poor tuned bike.
