Starter - which one; HD or DS?

Lots of grinding, usually hot, sometimes cold. It's always seemed to struggle when starting. So I thought that I'd throw in the 1.4kW and hope for better starting and be done with it. One thing I don't want to do is chase my tail trying to figure out what's wrong replacing different parts of the starter.

OK everytime my starter clutch would fail it would go bad at what I call gas station stops. Cold it was fine but when hot it woud embarres you at a gas station with the grinding. With the info provided im 95% sure its just a starter clutch. HD starter clutch sucks compaired to the all ***** and MES. I use the MES because it is lifetime warrenty.

I just downloaded the instructions for the starter and it says "your All ***** starter..." I also read a review on a different Drag Specialties starter and the guy said he was excited to see that DS comes with a lifetime warranty. So I just sent an email to Dennis Kirk for confirmation on both questions.

I read somewhere that the H-D starter clutch is virtually the same as in all other brands. Anybody know the truth behind this?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a car (Toyota or something) starter that is virtually identical to the OEM HD starter and costs less than $200 but I forget the details.
