Talking New Tires then clunk

Just put new tires on 07 FXDC and within 2 days of riding had a terrible noise coming from I don't know where. Clunk everytime I hit a bump. After having a terrible accident in 1984 I was scared of having another front wheel lock up. Immediately took it to my local HD dealer who got a mechanic to look at it. It was a loose gas tank (barely) but enough to make you worry. What a minor problem that caused so much worry.

BTW if you bought 1 tire they would sell you the other for $1. So it only cost(?) $520. It was a 1 day sale but I was first in line. Pretty good deal.

As part of your TCLOCS before every ride, grab ahold of the gas tank and give it a couple of yanks to make sure it's tight. It loosens a little bit periodically.

That seems an awfully high price for two tires. But glad you got your terrible noise sorted out.

I'm glad your happy with the fix of your gas tank. With all the vibrations that these sweethearts put out I guess anything is possible. But two tires for 520 dollars. You could have done much better with the motorcycle superstore. I recently bought two Michilin commander II's for a grand total of 242 dollars. Didn't say that to make you feel bad, but I hope you got kissed, because you certainly got, you know the other thing.

Yes I paid $520 for the tires. As I said I got the lowest priced tire for $1. Now then, this is a Harley Dealer and they must put in new tubes and that rubber band, $85 each for wheel removal and labor (balancing, etc), $2 each for recycling, etc. The rear is a 160/70 B17 K591. Harley price is $216 for just the tire. Front is 100/90 H19 was $245 for which I paid $1. Both are Dunlops. An independent wanted $232 rear, $120 front, plus $65 for each wheel. I don't know if they included the tube but I doubt it. Anyway it was the best deal in town, Phoenix. Do the math.

I meant $145 for the front, now $245.
