I was looking up some brake pads for my 06 Dyna FXDBi and noticed that on one site ... EBC that the brake pades were for Spoke wheels ... why would this be ... arent brake pads, brake pads ??? regardless of what wheels you have ?
Also, while I am on the topic. what do you all recommend for brake pads ? I only have to change out the rear pads, this time around ... any suggestions ???
and as for the fronts ... do any of you have a rattling that comes from from your front wheel when braking ??? what is it ?

Not really a rattling, more like a buzz when I brake, have the Lyndall Gold Plus pads and have had the noise since installing them, has to do with the holes in the rotors I believe.
Don't the laced wheels have a traditional style rotor and the mags have a big ring on certain years? If that is the case with your year, then that us the difference.
You need to make sure the pads are compatible with the rotors.Lots of choices now with different pad materials.Wrong match up will cause what your describing.
So you are saying that me and the guy trading also need to trade rotors ? both him and have have 2006 Dyna's and was hoping that all we had to do was trade wheels ??? am I wrong ? what else is involved ?
my bike is an 02, i had the stock mag wheels and purchased a 21 spoke for the front and i reused my rotor with no issues at all, the same for my rear wheel when i did the change to spoke.

When I swapped from spokes to mags on my 08 FXDC, I had to get a different front rotor. Has to do with the difference the in the way the center of the wheel is made on a mag. The front rotor was more like a ring than the big disk that is standard. I did not have to change the rear rotor with the mags. I just installed the standard Harley brake pads just like were on the bike before when I had to change my pads last fall and I have not had any problems.

Not all mags are the same, it depends on which ones you get. Mine use the same as the original spokers I had.
