Default Internal wiring

I am thinking about drilling my stock stainless bars ,2001 wdg,and running internal wiring but am now wondering if I should, after reading about the late model bars being recalled for cracks in the wire entrances. Any body run into any troubles with this mod or have any other insight into this?

My thinking on this is that your riser clamps will be on each side of the hole you'll drill for the wires providing support if the bar does crack which I don;t think will happen.Drill the holes and deburr with a dremel tool or some such and I wouldn't think there would be a problem. People do it all the time.

Good Luck

Tom

I bought a set of aftermarket bars, 1", and drilled them phor internal wiring. They've been on phor close to a year now, and no issues with cracking.

Like Tommay said previous, just make sure you debur it throughly, and don't make too big of a hole.

I was thinking that I would do the same thing on my 97fxdwg. the stock bars have small holes for the zip ties to attatch to the bars. I was goin to drill them out and debur. feed the wires through. seems to be enough slak in the harness to do it with out too much trouble. when the weather gets warmer I'll get her out and let you know how it goes.
