Default Bare bones install on Street Bob question.

Just installed the LePera Bare Bones solo on my 08 Street Bob. Are you suppost to remove the 2 factory rubber fender protectors that were under the original seat? The bare bones required more than expected downward pressure to screw down.

No worries...I noticed some additional pressure required as well. The bracket that screws into the bottom of the bare bones will ease up/shape nicely over the next week or so. Bottomline, your issue is common and no worries! that pressure will escape in a few weeks of riding. Good call leaving those two rubber mounts in place, even with the felt bottom of the bare bones, without the rubber mounts, your weight and regular riding could rub/scuff the fender over time. Enjoy the seat! A great seat for local riding, but stand by for a rough rump on those long rides!

Enjoy and hope that helps/ease the concern.

Interesting, the rubber pad were attached to the bottom/seat pan on my 06 SB. I have a LePera, C&C and Saddleman seat and none of them rub the fender.

It's a seat, dood. Seriously... Better take it to the dealership so they can do it for you. Lol

I ran mine with the pads and then without after repainting my fender. No scuffs without. It's under the seat anyway.

HAHA!!! I bet you could get out of the dealer for 1 hour labor charge to install that bare bones. That would be the most expensive "Phillips" screw job ever.

By the way, no rubber pads on my fender. No issues either.
