Just found out today they want to promote me to a management position at my work, this will be a significant salary increase. This means a lot of upgrades to the Wide Glide in the near future, only after taking care of home first. So in the near future I'm going to be asking for opinions and I know Ill get answers here. After 24 yrs. at this job I'm finally going to get a small piece of the pie.I'm ready for ideas.
I here you about the increased time not to worry in the height of the season we work average of 10 to 12 hrs days and most of the time I'm on the night shift for a better part of the summer but this means straight days I can handle that.
Congratulations! It's always nice to be recognized and promoted with an increase. I've been there and the biggest piece of advice I can give is to make sure you know exactly what they will be expecting from you up front. You don't want to get some unexpected surprises as you kick off your new carrier.
Also, do you know the crew that will be reporting to you? Are they your friends now? If so, the first few months will be a big adjustment period. Will they respect you enough to follow what you say? Will some think it's now an open invitation to think they can slack it? etc' Best advice I received when I became a manager is that you can be friendly with your staff, just not their friend. The first time you have to come down on someone that is a friend can be very tough.
Most of it can be good though if you have a good crew working for you.
Then the first mod you should do is a quality tuner with a quality dyno tuner. Best thing I ever did for my bike. Not only for the big increase in power, but just the way it smoothed out and cruises.
