Any idea what causes this? When the motor's hot and I shut it down, it'll come almost to a stop and then chunk into a reverse rotation spin for a few seconds. It didn't do this before I had it dyno tuned.
what octane gas? This is normally due to carbon deposits built up around plugs, valves or heads. It's called dieseling. Do you have detonation (ping) when starting up from stop or in acceleration?
A freind suggested that my plugs are too hot. The heads are new (Edelbrock) but I'm running plugs for HD heads. The Edelbrock paperwork didn't suggest anything different. That they're new heads pretty much eliminates hot spots on the heads themselves and I'm thinking that the tuner's work perhaps amplified a hot plug problem since my bike was running way rich prior to the tune.
I don't *think* it's a timing issue since the plugs backspin occurs after the ignition is cut off and there's no more fired getting to the plugs.
I've thought about taking it back to the tuner, but I watch his work and he's got it producing peak horsepower with no pinging.
Any thoughts on the likelihood of the plugs being too hot?
since it dose after the turn it off i would think that its a combination off to hot of a plugs or higher temps, in the combustin chamber after the tune.combined with a way too rich idel mix.you might try readjusting the idel mix.,and seting the idel rpm to around 900 rpm
