Default Handlebar: Internal Wiring Help

Hello,
Could use a little help. I'm putting some new bars with internal wiring on my '01 Wide Glide. I've got the cover off by the front of the rear fender and I managed to wrestle the 'service loop' out. I also have the zip tie cut and the plug from the right front of the frame removed. Do you tug on booth sets of wires coming from each handlebar AND on the wires going to the console? Or just the wires going to the bars? I'm not having much luck getting anything to move so I can get at the connectors. I'm thinking of removing the rear tire because handling that thick 'service loop' from the between the tire and fender is a major PIA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Must be different on the 01's. My 07 Dyna I just popped out the bottom plastic tab under the backbone (under gas tank) and separated the connectors and pins and pulled the wires out the neck grommet holes.

Put them back in the new bars and back thru the neck holes, hooked them back up and pushed them all back up into the backbone.

Never had to pull anything from the rear ?

almost sounds like someone is going to far into something. Maybe you missed something up front?

I had to do the same thing on my 03 when I did mine. First all you have to do for rear tire is remove shocks and let swing arm hang. That gives you plenty of room to put service loop back in its "pocket". You need to pul the entire harness out from the opening in front of backbone. The two plugs you are trying to get to are about 3/4 down the backbone if they are in same location as the 03. Finally I would strongly suggest to get some Lube to pull harness back through into the back bone and once you fold the sevice loop back up into its pocket. Its tight and gets packed in pretty good. There is NO need to remove the rear wheel or anything else back there except the seat.
You pull the whole harness forward as you work it into the frame under the seat.

It is best f you have some help as it makes it a quick couple minute job with 2 people.
When done you push from the front and pull from under the seat, very simple.

And yes in 06 when they changed the frame they changed how these wires are routed so the slack is up front and not under the seat.

Thanks for the feed back. On my '01 there is a cover in the fender just in front of the rear wheel. When you take that off there is a loop of wire (service loop), maybe an inch in diameter, folded over in the space between the rear fender and battery box. This is shown in my manual. This loop needs to be unfolded and then pushed back up the backbone of the frame towards the front of the bike. You need to pull on the cables from the front near the neck and push on the service loop from the rear. Supposedly you do this a little at a time until you work the connectors out of the backbone up by the neck. My problem is I'm not getting anything to move. I don't want to get to frisky and rip out some wiring and really cause myself some head aches. I suppose part of the problem is the temps in my garage. Trying to manipulate this nasty old snake of wires when it's cold ain't helping anything. Believe me, I wish I was over thinking this thing and had a cover underneath the front of my backbone to get at the connectors. I guess I'll just take off the rear wheel so I can get my big mitts in there and manipulate the snake. Eveything in there could use a good cleaning any how.

You do not need to "Unfold" the loop, you simply feed it into the frame as you pull from the front. There is no need to remove the wheel or fender or anything else, that loop is not folded, it is simply a loop, push it into the frame as someone pulls on the wires up front.
I have done this more times than I can count and it only takes a few minutes.
