Default Replacing buckhorns with mini apes

My bike has the stock buckhorns on now. I think they look bad, but they are ok to ride with. As im riding i think i would like my hands up a little higher so i could be more stretched out. So i just ordered stock mini apes(10 1/2 inch rise.) I think i would have liked to go 12" but i dont want to replace cables and wires at the moment. Hopefully have them by this weekend and get a ride in. Anyone else make this switch? was it better?

Had similar issue. Bought stock DP Buckhorns, at a good price, to replace the OE bars. One day I adjusted the OEs up, big difference in comfort. Bikes' OP was about 10" shorter than I am which made the grips too low for me. Will keep the Buckhorns, just in case.

Honestly, the Bucks are OK. You said it, They ride great, spend more time riding and less time looking at your bike. Bucks are classic, that's why they have been used for 40 years. JMO. Move the Bucks to get the right feel and the right look. Mini apes are so so... well ? Whatever...

I like my stock buckhorns on my 2007 FXDC also. I put 2" pullback risers on and now they fit me just fine. Like you say, they are a classic.

...subscribing.

I have buckhorns and was thinking the same thing. I'm 6'4 with long legs. I have fwd controls on my lowrider so my knees the ends of the handlebars on slow turns. Other than that, I like the comfort. It would be nice to try a few different styles without changing the cables and brake .
