Default 98 superglide wiring issue

hey yall got a problem ive run into, my turn signals aint working right. just picked up the bike and the previous owner deicided to do a hank job on the turnsignals when he took em off. i had to put new ones on because of military regs for riding on post and i got to have em up by thursday nite. from what i found there were three wires blue purple and black i figured black was common ground blue was left signal, purple was right signal but the right works fine and the left stays on and wont flash when engaged. any thoughts. on some of the threads ive read is there three wire for both sides or what cant get a manual in time so im hitting the forums.

Front signals have 3 wires and the rear have 2 wires, the reason the front have 3 is they are running lights as well as turn signals. i have attached wiring diagram

FRONT of BIKE: 3 wires per side-REASON:yellow lights always ON
BACK of BIKE: 2 wires per side REASON: only used as turn signals, only flash when turn signal is activated on US bikes..unless they were rewired to act as either additional brake lights or running lights and that would require a third wire and a change-out to front style turn lamps . so it would be flasher+ either brake or running light..unless an additional electrical unit was added to make standard lights flasher+run+brake

Easy solution would be to use a cheap digital meter and test black to one wire and then black to the other wire while hitting a turn signal at the handlebar.

If blue is acting as a turn signal someone has spliced or changed a wire somewhere. You can pull the plugs out of the frame and verify the colors.
