Default Turn signal help!

upgraded my 1995 FXSTC turn signals to the newer "bullet" style. Here is my question:

The service manual has two wires in the diagram. Both are black (one being copper thread) easy enough. The only problem is (2 of the 4 of)the new turn signals have 3 wires not two. Blue, purple and black. Im using the 2 wire signals for the rear, and the 3 wire signals for the front.

Where do these go? Im guessing the black is to ground, but where to ground to? can anyone answer the color coding question (blue? purple?)? I know where they go in the connectors at the main harness (under the tank), just dont know what which is which, and of course they didnt come with any installation help.

The three wire signals include running lights. the lamps have two filaments, which correspond to the two positive wires you have. If you're not incorporating running lights, just test with a twelve volt source to determine which is the brighter filament, and use that to connect to your signal wiring, capping the other wire.

If you want running lights, take the third wire to any source that's on with your ignition, speedo lamps, headlight, etc.

1) Here is a wiring diagram from a google search: http://support.jpcycles.com/ci/fatta...%20Softail.pdf

2) Get a manual for your bike

3) Search the forum: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/elect...e-65-03-a.html

4) There is another thread on wiring diagrams created by a user in Europe - his user name has 2003 in it. Search for that thread.
