Default Just say no to burly cables.

I put the 14" burly kit on their own narrow 14" apes on my 02 low rider, Clutch cable is too short, throttle cables too long. Brake line was cheesy and came with old style copper washers that harley doesn't use anymore. Clutch pull is kinda rough even with the bar rotated forward to provide slack. A friend used a kit on his sportster 48 clutch cable broke 4th pull, luckily in the garage not running. Then he had throttle cable issues shortly after, never told me specifically what they were.

How far over stock do you need to get for the 14" bars for cables?
I was planning on using HCC but after 3 emails and 2 phone messges (I have made many more calls than I left messages for) and no reply, answer or call back I am jumping ship.
I would be interested in using Magnum but not sure what length to order.
If it matters my bars are the Santee 14" apes and I am really wanting to get them installed!

Unless something changed between 10 and 12 you should have more than enough. I have 16's and I have generous excess. Go to your dealer and they will get you the correct size HD cable. That's what I recommend. Mine are a perfect fit, they're smooth, and fit great in the bikes components.

Also take your time with the wiring. Take a cell pic of the connector so you can see the order of the wire colors prior to removing the wires from the connector to fish them through the bars. Be sure to note if there is a skipped hole and what end is facing up. I've done 3 bikes this way and it's almost foolproof.

THIS IS WHY I SAY ORDER HD. And 99% of the time I am against this but for a purpose such as this, it's a no brainer. If you need to adjust bars for slack, it's DEF too short lol.
