Helmets
Lately I have been wearing one all of the time. I bought it new when it was pretty cold here in Texas(Houston area). It is great for the cold or cooler weather. As others have said you need to try a bunch on to see what fits right. Mine is a SUOMY Vandal. I also tried a more expensive HJC
Which was painfully loud due to the little roller vents in the front of the helmet. Sounds like a bee is in there with the rubber mounted engine and loud exhaust. SUOMY is made in Italy. Lots of sport bike guys use them I guess. Had to go look at them at a sport bike place. I doubt if I can use it all year with the heat here in the summer but I would if it is tolerable.

Half helmets aren't legal in the UK. Only 3/4 and full face. You can't even wear DOT approved helmets. They have to be ECE approved so I had to buy a helmet once I got here.
I wear a Shoei RF1100 but I needed to buy the thinner cheek pads ($35.) in order for it to fit . Also the HD Helmet Headset fits into this very good helmet . I have tried on the new Shoei modular Neotec , it is an awesome piece of equipment . It will be my next hat .
I have been wearing a modular for years, the one in my Avatar picture. I just bought a new full face last weekend. I could not believe how much better than my old modular it was. So much more areodynamic and all that wind noise goes away.
I wear a half helmet more often now that I live in Florida. I wore full face exclusively on my sportbikes. The shoei RF-1000/1100 is an excellent recommendation by others here. I bought a Shoei Multitech Modular when I bought the Street Glide ...used it during spring and fall riding in Alaska. I highly recommend a Shoei modular (multitech or neotech). They are a bit pricey, but they can be found on line for pretty reasonable prices ...and worth evey penny.
