Finally decided to buy either a Pit Bull or J&S jack for my 06 SG. The J&S is cheaper, but wanted to know if any of you prefer one brand over the other? I currently use a rigged Sears but want soemthing ultra sturdy.
I did a lot of research before I bought mine and settled for the J&S.
The reason was the J&S goes about 1/2" to 1" lower. The Pitbull lifts your bike up about a foot higher. If you get the Pitbull, I believe you want the one for the Dyna, even if its for a Touring model.
I have had the J&S for a couple years now. It's a great lift. The bike is solid as a rock on it. I am 240 and sit on it all the time on the lift, no problem.
I did however have an issue with the bottle jack it comes with. First off it's made in China. I mean if you're going to boast USA... Anyway, I got over that pretty quick. The problem was after a while the lift would only go up so high. It would just stop about mid way. The jack was about two months past the warranty but I sent J&S a letter not really expecting much and really wasn't asking for anything just wanted to let them know how I felt about the whole 'made in the USA' thing.
Well, the next day I got a reply asking for my home address and stating my new bottle jack (still made in China...lol) would be shipped promptly.
Sure enough, got the new jack and the lift works great!
Probably only needed some fluid too, I haven't checked yet.
I guess what I'm trying to say in the longest version I could muster is The jack is great and the service is even better...
Another J&S here. It is pricey but it is also quality. Split it with my dad who uses it on his Wing and mom's VTX, handles both of them excellent too. I was sceptical about it with the Wide Glide even after reading about it. Those fears left the first time I had her on it. Never used a Pit Bull so I can;t comment on them.
Have the Pitbull Jack. LOVE the jack. ROCK SOLID!!! J&S and Pitbull were both at a local Bike show. I picked the PB because I thought it was made better & it went 7 or 8" higher. Both were great products.
