at $10k for the bike, and $400 in all my mods, I think I'm in the lead for biggest tightwad so far.
(New bars, V&H Big Shots, PC3USB, Headlamp visor, wide glide sissybar, repainted (plasti dipped) the whole bike, painted engine and new logo, saddlebags, K&N, and other little mods like license plate mount, led's, and including the chopped fender I'm installing this weekend...)
I'm close. Got the bike off EBAY for 5800 +600 to ship it. and around 350 in chrome
Here's my mods (to the best of my recollection) in order of how they were done:
Tank lift - $25 (forum purchase)
Home brew A/C cover - $11 (Home Depot)
Rush slip ons - $75 (free with parts sold, forum)
12" apes - $15 (Craigslist)
Throttle, idle, clutch cables to go with new bars - $75 (free with parts sold, forum)
HD Get-A-Grips - $50 (stealer)
Solo seat from FXDB - $40 (eBay)
Rear fender bib - $35 (eBay)
Home brew laydown plate frame/mounting hardware - $16 (stealer)
Highway peg mounts with Kuryakyn offsets and HD magnum pegs - $40 (eBay)
HD rigid side plates - $35 (forum)
Drag Specialties round bar upright - $60 (free with parts sold, local indy shop)
7" Fat Boy headlight - $35 (eBay)
Front turn signal relocation mounts - $30 (eBay)
That puts me at $456. If you subtract the parts swapped/sold and put back into the bike ($210), that leaves me at $246. Then, if you subtract what labor would've cost if I had all this done at a dealership instead of doing it all myself, I'd say I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of negative $500-800!
Of course, that doesn't mean I'm done, it just means I'm waiting for more deals too good to pass on!
Bike was 13000. 106 kit,cams,propipe,pcv,dynotune,mustang seat,p&p heads,willie g covers for everything,willie g grip and levers,detachable hard bags,new front wheel.
All in I got at least 21 grand into it for sure
Compared to some I bet I don't have much in mine; V&H pipes, Stage 1, Tuner, seats and some little stuff like axle nut covers. I'm not really planning on any other mods at this time because spring is here and I want to ride as much as possible. At some point I'd like to have my wheels relaced with stainless steal spokes. Maybe next Dec or Jan.
