11,999 for the bike
As it sets with all my buying and selling, ebaying, swap n shop, and close outs about 4-5000. Had I just outright bought my stuff a easy 7500. Of course I'm getting ready to drop another 1000 on tune.
$13,800 for my new 2012 FXDC with dealer set up + the following:
Assessories/mods done my the dealer when new:
V&H 3" slip-ons
SE stage 1 breather
SERTPRO
dyno tune to be done on 4/6 @ 1,000 mile service
HD forward controls
19" super sport quick detach windshield
quick detach tall sissy bar with backrest pad
Installed my me:
5" extended pegs on forward controls
re-installed mid-mounts with stock pegs
jiffy stand extension
smoke turn signal lens kit w/amber bulbs
LED brake light w/clear lens
HD logo front axle covers
HD logo rear axle covers
Fox Creek Leather tool bag mounted on frame
Right now I have right at $17,000 in my FXDC with everything above. This doesn't include the tax I paid when I traded. Only other things I plan on in the near future is another tool bag & a sissy bar bag.
I bought mine new two years ago. Spent about 6K for stuff on the bike and probly another 1500 on gear. At least the labor was done by me. Nothing done to motor except the tuner.
So around 22K total so far with purchase price of bike. (not including gear)
This is the way the bike looked when I bought it:
I'm keeping a running tab on all the mods which I'm at about $3,000+ including: Used Leatherpros, PCIII, Big Sucker, used pipes, used slipons, used handlebars, Heat Demons, used XM radio, chrome switch housings, grips, used HD Nostalgia windshield, LePera Villain 2up, used Softail lighting, rear signal relocation kit, tank lift, wide tire kit, used front wheel and new front tire...and more I'm sure. All the used parts I bought from forum members. Will get some money back when I sell the stuff I'm replacing. Maybe $6-700. I'll post new pics when it's done.
... ive put so much money into it that i could have payed it off by now......
probably around 7-8k in mods (parts & powdercoat)...
One day, after proudly showing a client everything I had done to my boat, he said: "A fool and his money are soon parted."
Whatever we spend on mods is money spent, for fun, for our own enjoyment, or to impress others. It is just gone. It's a great deal of fun to frivolously blow a lot of money, w/ no care whatsoever for actual value received.
My '09 has less than $600 in added accessories: q/d w/s, highway pegs, throw-over saddlebags. It came w/ security system, sissy bar, Iso-Grips, SE-II tuner, GPS, Battery Tender pigtail, and heated gear controller. It is otherwise stock. Paid $9k 2 years ago. So I have ~$9600 in it.
