Hi all , my bike currently has a 21 inch front wheel, i have a 16inch front wheel that i was thinking of installing, what are the pros and cons of having a 16 inch on the front. Is the 16 wheel shorter in height vs the 21
I am off a 21, which I thought Id hate but I ended up loving it. I just got a Dyna and I am glad to have the 19, which is an in between to me. My first heavy bike had a 16.
my two cents... the 16 is best when ridden on top of, and the 21 is best when ridden behind. I never had rut problems b/c I am always active about them and do not get myself into them, so I cannot speak to that. however the 21 was a great look and a great ride, especially when it is raked or lowered so you can feel like you are behind it.
obviously the 16 is a good standard as it will soften the ride and produce more contact surface area.
And you can see the 16 inch wheel on the Street Bob in my sig. picture. All of these bikes had DRASTIC improvements in ride quality and handling when the 19 inch wheels were removed. I couldn't even imagine how much better this would be over a skinny 21 inch wheel. They are not my thing................
What size tire are you going to run up front? I'm running a 120/90/21 if I recall off the top of my head. I did go to a wider wheel with my 21" from 19" so I guess that makes a difference.
