I had some santee skirt blowers on my bike for about a month. They sounded amazing but were super loud. I really didn't notice the loss of power until I installed V&H side shots and wheelied into second gear.
I love drag pipes because there cheap and empty inside. That being said i do not run them that way as they be loud as f__. I love tinkering and fabricating and the sort's so i make my own baffles from scratch and install them in the pipe. I focus on how to dampen and control reversion in the pipes. And i am assuming it must be good as i made a few set's for local folks and they run them.
The torque cone insert's i think are snake oil crap. there way to restrictive for anything bigger then my 8hp rototiller LOL. And them cheap baffles that look like the was made with a can opener are same way to restrictive. But study exhaust dynamics and figure what really works my friend then chuck up some pipe in a lathe and i think you find a awesomely great surprise..
I have V&H Straightshots - the full system not the dopey slip-ons. They are cheap, simple, and very lightweight drag-ish pipes. If you want them LOUD, leave out the baffles (with all the negatives others have noted about power and noise). I put V&H 'quiet' baffles in an I'm really please with it. No loss of power (though no gain either) and a nice snarly note when hammered but not too neighbor-alienating when pootling along at lower revs.
