Thanks a lot everybody. Very helpful. I'll definitely build me a swamp cooler. Sounds like an idea that works. Also have to dig deep in my closet if I can find some light-colored clothing that I can ride in. Drinking lots of water goes without saying. Any more tips? Bring it on!
I got different advice on helmets. Some people here say full face is best 'cause it keeps the fluids in the body (just like the beduins wrapping their scarfs around their heads, covering nose and mouth). Others say no helmet is best (not an option for me - but I might consider a 3/4). Any thoughts?

on a 117 degree day here it realy hurts your lung to breath , a light cloth wrapped over you nose and mouth that has been wetted helps . long sleeve shirt tthat breathes is better than short sleeve shirt that you burn in also remember back of hands get sun burned to . a full face helmet with vents and a wet clothe over your head helps
How does a full face keep fluid in? Keeps you from sweating? I wear long sleeve T-shirts thin ones anyones, as I dont care about protection from a wreck lol, HD had a cool mesh jacket I saw fo $99 might be worth looking into one of those. Like others have said hydration is key, so is air flow.
I have a gray HD mesh jacket with minimal armor. I don't like riding with just a T-shirt. Feels like when I don't have a seat belt on in the car. Just feel nekked. I also have a Camelbak. Love it. Keeps the water cold and I can access it while I'm riding.
