Before I take it in I need a little advice. I just bought a 2012 street bob. I put forward controls on it and it was fine the first 2 days of riding. The only problem was it was hard as hell to get it into neutral. Today when I took it out I didn't have that same problem getting it into neutral but now when I down shift it doesn't want to catch. Even when I release the clutch I have to tap down about 3 times to get it to catch. It wasn't every time but it must have happened about 15 times in a 2 hour ride. When the problem shows up its not lost in gears, it doesn't grind it still smooth when I do get it in. I can probably explain better if I get specific questions. I left the primary but its in a secured position which doesn't interfere with any of the moving parts. I need to take it in for 1k service so I'll ask then but any help now will be appreciated. Thanks
I adjusted my clutch cable about 20 times and that didnt help. my shifter is pretty low but its not interfering with my footpeg housing. I'm going to try to raise my shifter up a little bit. ill let you know if that helps anything
I have not. I adjusted at the cable but I dont have the slightest as to where the "pack" is or how it can be adjusted. Are you talking about where the clutch cable goes into the box that says 6 speed. Sorry im retarded ive been riding sportsters for to long.
SC Longhair is referring to the clutch pack itself - which is seen when you remove the derby cover. You need to adjust your clutch and I would bet your linkage is not correctly adjusted either. You need to get your bike's Service Manual and Parts Catalog - both of which are readily available on Harleydavidson.com
Since your bike is so new, I'd also suggest being a pest with your local dealer's service department. But if they can't/won't help you then try what we've suggested.
Well im an idiot. I didn't take my primary shifter off so it was getting jammed up. Problem fixed. Thanks for the help guys. At least I learned something
