Default Another Exhuast Question

I know there are lot of questions on Exhaust but here is another one - looking for opinions (I know this is risky since like they say, opinions are like A**holes... ha).

I have a 2010 FXWDG and I am looking to finally put a new exhaust on. I want to put something on that looks better (prefer black), sounds better (better bass, not so loud I get hassled by cops, or need ear plugs), and maybe gives increased performance.

What are your thoughts on options here? What do you ride? do you like it? I am on a budget (ideally $300-$400) - and have see the usual suspects (V&H, Samson, Rush) but looking for feedback from people that actually have different pipes. I love the look of sikpipes but from what I hear they are very loud. Videos or pics would be great along with comments

For that price slip ons are your best bet. A full system, even the v&h short shots which sound good and are the cheapest, will run a lot more with labor, high flow air intake, and a fuel management system with tune (stage 1). Only the slips will work with a stock bike and you can put them on easily. They come in black too. V&h have a good tone IMO.

I have the Rush Slash cut slip-ons with the 1.75 baffle on my 2010 FXDC. Great sound at idle (not too loud), but the have the right amount of bark when you want it.

I went with the python slip ons. I believe python is made by vance and hines. Really like the looks and price wasnt too bad. I think about $250 for the set. Good luck!

python is made by vance and hines for drag specialties. I have a brother who has V&H slip ons and he really likes them.

A lot of people are very happy with Cycle Shacks, including me. Like the sound and price much more than the V&H I had on before. I don't think there is a black option but I think these are the best bang for the buck.

i see a few posts from street bob users using slipons. the op has a wide glide so if he just swaps to slipons he will still have the cat in the headpipe unlike a street bob where the cat was in your mufflers. so to the original poster (op) slipons will be alot quieter than the video you see above. my advise is use utube as some research. often videos dont sound 100% but it will give you an idea. i have v&h bigshots and they are pretty loud (to me) im starting to like the 2 into 1 v&h propipe. havent heard it in person but from those that have it like it. so if you find a style you like just hit up utube on sound bits. i have videos on utube and they sound pretty much like the video.
