Update on Road Glide fairing install on FXDF
Yea FXD2003Rider, awesome resource. I followed the wiring info he had (all under the seat) to tap into etc... (I'll be honest
I have my gauges powered and lit up, but not all are working yet)... But I made a full wire lomb, and wires are ran, just have to hook up... soon...As for TUNES!
I went with a sony, and 50x4, what I did is use the Boom audio fairing speakers.
They are set up to connect the tweeter to the "sub" and use one set of leads. BUT what I did was split the signal, and wired my tweeters as "front" speakers and the subs as "rears"...
I made sure I got a stereo that I could tune front and rear separate and set them up so Im not pushing bass thru the tweeter and visa versa...
To mount the stereo in the HD cradle, I got the biketronics install ket.
Was 45 bux, came with a mount face plate, and the side spacers. and also the antenna lead. Its the easiest way to go.
At 80ish I can hear my tunes no prob!
50-60ish cruising I'm loving life with crankin tunes!
I also use some sound insulation on the inside of my fairing to create a "speaker box" effect. I tried it with the insulation and with out and there IS a huge difference for sure! without the speakers sounded cracky... now they are pounding!
My only wish.
If I had a full touring controls set up with volume on my bars, or a radio that compensated road speed/volume. My issue is when with my wife or friends and we stop at a light or what ever, my stereo is fuken LOUUUD! I have to reach to turn it down to talk, then reach again to turn up as we drive off.
Ill figure it out at some point, however weather has been awesome so Im riding rather than wrenching!
EDIT!:
If your still in the market for a radio, check out the Alpine head units that are equipt to hook up with the new alpine power pack, go to a best buy or whatever and talk with them.
I realized after the fact, It might have been a better set up and better bang for the buck... maybe this winter Ill swap...

Not a fan of the stationary fairing persay. I had one on an old yamaha. Never could get used to the headlight pointing forward when making left/right turns. You just can't see what is in your way sometimes.
Congrats on making it work, though. Many happy miles...
There are two open plugs in the back bone but once again no none seems to know what they are or knows what plugs fit them.
Next issue is the audio mount is still rubbing on the underside of the inside of the fairing despite me grinding off about .125". I am wondering if I need to remove the original Cyclevision outer mount plate and only use this as the outer mount plate? What did you do?

Friend and forum member Convincor made my mount, its a custom bracket...
I dont have any rubbing. can u take pics and post?
Also when I actually have the stereo head I will grind off any excess from the ears that stick up over the head unit.
