Such a great idea! I want a stereo so bad! How did you mount?
Haven't mounted the stereo yet but I bought the Road Glide mount bracket which fits into the fairing. Basically it is a cradle that the head unit mounts to. All the bile units I have seen have mounting blocks on the sides so screws can go into the unit and it is a bit isolated.

Well done..that looks amazing. Did you end up having to make any significant mods? Do you think there would be a way to rig it up to be quick release?
Besides moving the turn signals which required keeping the wires tucked in and there is not much wire to cut and splice in longer wire, probably the most difficult task was to wire up the oil pressure gauge because there was no instructions for installing it on a Fat Bob as the Harley directions do not work on a Dyna because the plugs they direct you to simply dont exist. I ended up taking the power from a hot lead under the instrument cluster on the tank and running a ground to the mount. The second wire (green) I left dormant. The other problem I am having is I have no Bright/Dim control on the headlights even though I have experimented with swapping the wires around so they stay on bright which is ok, as long as I never ride in fog I suppose. The third problem is curing the rub of the audio mount on the inside of the fairing as moving the fairing up and down and grinding the mount so far havent done the trick, yet. I do not want grind too much until I have the audio head to see how much I can remove without making the mount useless. The Cyclevision mount only required a slight modification to clearance for the wider forward tank ears. I looked to see if this could be made into a quick release but with all that is going on with this fairing sorry to say no. On a side note I am considering buying a shop manual just so I can have the wiring diagram.

Ok Ackman1968, LarryLives, and SurFor Chop I got the oil pressure gauge installed, no thanks to the Harley instructions which on a Dyna are useless for our application. Used only the Grn/Brn to S, ground to where else, ground, and picked up positive from the Pink leed on the 3 pin under the console. Now comes the Voltmeter which I do not want to just pick up from the battery, I would like to read charging/discharging, so any Dyna specific recommendations?
Next after that will be the Tach and I did save the HD instructions which of course are very vague when you come to the FXDF so one has to follow the FXDWG and hope for the best, unless you guys have any ideas?

Moderator FXD2003Rider has a bunch of technical info posted up online ... including electrical diagrams that are in the back of the service manual ...
... you might do a search and see if he has posted one for the FXDF ... might make the job of deciphering your gauge wiring that much easier ... maybe PM him if you need him to point you in the right direction ....

Yep, already did the search thing and came up empty which is why I put the touch on you guys. Forums just plain rock when it comes to building stuff, they were instramental in building my '56 Chevy and have been helpful in building my off road rail project. Nothing beats talking to someone who has been there done that. Sort of like hanging at A&W rappin' about your build with guys but without the calories!
Anyway regaring the tunes, yep my plans are that Sony head unit so I am glad to hear the confirmation about it. I have a Sony in my '56 now for 6 years and it just plan rocks. Have a set of Apline speakers but not thrilled with them 'cause I've blown 3 woffers so far and just replaced them with the same because they are modulars with seperate tweeters and built into the design of the car (in the doors they fit into the spot originally made for the wing window crank, and since I have deleted the wing windows, no need for the cranks and built into the read arm rests) so until I find something that fits I will just stick with them.
I'll tap FXD2003Rider for some info on the wiring advice thanks.
