I am writing on behalf of a friend here in Poland.
He recently purchased a HD FXDF 2008 from the States.
Unfortunately, it is on its way to Poland without a key and its immobilizer.
I contacted the auction sales who sent me info about possible solutions to getting a key/immobilizer here but they can't do anything without the bike there and here getting the key/immobilizer for this model that is only available in the States is pretty costly. I did receive information on how to deactivate the immobilizer.
My question is: Once the immobilizer is deactivated, is it possible to ride the motorcycle just on the key? Or does it only work with the immobilizer?
This is where the manager of the auction sales wasn't able to answer with a definite yes.
I don't believe the ECU has to be reflashed. The dealer does need to "marry" the fobs to the security module (TSSM) but I think you could install a stock, non-security module and be good to go.
Can't be certain the 08 is the same, but all Dyna's from 07 use part number 68921-07 for the non-security TSM. $115.00 US list price. Lake Shore has it for $91 but they can't sell to international customers.
