Over the weekend I installed a new Joker Machine speedometer relocation bracket that relocated the tombstone speedometer to the left fork. The bracket has the idiot lights built in. The install was a piece of cake, but unfortunately when crimping the wires I got two wires (turn signal and neutral) mixed. The tan and brown looked too much alike for my slightly color blind eyes. So I spliced and soldered, no big deal. Everything worked great.
I am no electrician, but been soldering for years and properly taped and heat shrunk the wires. Again everything worked perfectly.
At the same time I installed a new Dakota Digital direct-plug gauge.
Now the problem - My battery drains every couple days. I personally cannot imagine the idiot lights draining the battery, but I suppose anything is possible. I find it more likely that I got a bad gauge from Dakota since I've heard that Harley replaces the speedometer quite often when there are battery drain issues.
When battery is dead all accessories still work, yet at times it is so dead that the ignition doesn't even attempt to crank.
Any advice, thoughts or direction on this would be much appreciated.

Any problems with the battery before install? Just to rule it out, I would charge the battery up then check voltage and perform a load test. If all checks out I would check for other drains starting with the new guage.
