Default !!!help!!!

Hey guys I have a question. I have a 2012 Street Bob and within the last 2 months did front and back turn signal relocation and changed the exhaust and intake. Well when I took it to dealer to get the dyno tune for exhaust they called and told me the lights come on and you can start the bike without the key. Well since I know I havent seen the bike do that since I owned it I told them they are full of BS. Well I got it back from the tune and drove it all the way home with no issues. I just took it to work today and the Red Dot Light just right of the center of speedo comes on intermitetly then goes off. When the bike is running and on side stand it never comes on. Its not a set timming thing either. Any assistance in where to go to start looking for an issue would be greatly appreciated. I just dont want to spend the 400 dollars they quoted me to troubleshoot it themselves when I could use your help. Thank you...

not 100% sure what your issue is. they said the "lights come one and you can start without the key"? also what red light is coming on the dash. is this a red key meaning the security light is comming on.

since its under warranty they should look into the problem. if they deem it to be because of the turn signals being moved then it on you. but if they find it to be a problem with the key switch or something else then its under warranty. doubt it has anyting to do with the air cleaner or exhaust being changed. nor do i think it could be the rear turn signals being moved. now the front turn signal what exctly did you do. did you cut the wires and pull them through or did you depin and pull the wire through the bars and out the switch housing?

If it wasn't doing it before you did your signal mods, then it's a pretty safe bet that it's related to your signal wiring. Did you put LED lights on it?

You mentioned that it doesn't do it on the side stand and idling...have you tried your signals when it's on the side stand and idling? Does anything happen then? Also, you didn't say anything about it starting without the key/fob present when you got it home. What's the status of that situation?

Yes I did cut the wires but soldered the back like it war brand new. I didnt change to LED lights. that is why I am a little confused on the situation. I guess I can recheck everything and if not then Ill call the dealership. I just think its weird cause its not like it stays on all the time. Its just intermitent.

I would make sure you don't have any bad solder points and that there is no contact between the wires themselves or the bike.

Did you have to cut them to do the relocation or did you do it because it was quicker than a total disassemble?

I don't understand how any of this has to do with you ignition though, if this stuff turns on without a key, that tells me the inhibition switch has an issue. It's not like it's a switch that is found on the dash that doesn't require a key to activate, it's in the neck and HAS to have a key to turn it to accessory or ignition!

If your wires are 100% spot on at the solder points then the trouble shooting and fix should be covered by the warranty.

As for the red dot thing, that's a new one. Have you checked for any codes?

Thing is do you think they'll be honest if they do an issue with the bike and not the wiring?

did you disconnect the battery when you did the signal relocation? that might put the security system out of whack.

Disconnect the battery, let it sit for 5 minutes and reconnect it. If the issue continues take it to the shop. If they tell you it's the lights, tell them to prove it by unplugging the lights and plugging in some known good ones. It the issue goes away, pay them for the trouble shooting and go home, now you know what is needed to fix the issue....new lights. If it doesn't fix the issue then you know that you weren't the cause and that it should be a warranty covered issue. You have to play their game their way to win the battle.

I figure due to no follow up on solution, this was your mess up and not the factory?? When you ask for help[, it's your duty to follow up with the fix, that way it helps others in the future.
