I bought mine used and am having the same problem (although not nearly that bad) only on the front wheel, and only on about half of the wheel. I chalked it up to the previous owner's lack of cleaning, but I wonder. I was going to go to check out if it was under warranty, but then I thought... "you must be kidding. The local dealer would laugh in my face if I went there with that complaint." Our local dealer is really the pits when it comes to service.

shows in my warranty book quote harley dealer will repair or replace without charge
any parts found under normal use to be defective in factory materials or workmanship
such repair will be harley dealers sole obligation.
to me this is deffently defective of factory materials.
I will be taking mine up this week to resolve this.

The only things defective are your rationalization and maintenance skills.

Good luck with the dealer on that one, try clr from your local hardware on an obsure spot that won't show, but clr does not hurt chrome. It looks bad, but methinks it's still only suface rust at this point.

If I were a betting man, I would put down a couple of bucks that your dealer will suggest using steal wool and (buying their) polish and send you on your way.

Warranty.....doubt it.

What can you do? Long term get stainless spokes, short term be diligent about cleaning it or move to an arid climate! I rarely clean mine with much enthusiasm and I don't have rust issues. I contribute it to living in the desert.

There are threads out there on this but if you don't search exactly right you get zero hits. You could spend days lost in the search feature!
