Default modifying stock slip ons?

My son bought a 2012 street Bob..he is saving up for side shots...in the mean time we want a little better sound..anyone ever taken stock baffles and modified them?.
Seem to have 3 rivets holding them in.

Looking for something constructive to do on a quiet Saturday night

I didn't do it to my stock baffles, but if you drill out those rivets the baffles should come out easily enough. I'd reccomend removing maybe half of the wrap and slap em back in using ordinary self tapping or plain metal screws, take her out for a spin and if that's not enough take out some more, and you could also drill a hole in the tin plate at the far end of the baff itself. should only take you an hour or so. Make sure to have enough beer on hand to make the job last a little longer on a quiet sat night!

The baffles on my Fat Bob had wrap around them, then a layer of steel holed wrap around the inner pipe, and then the inner pipe had maybe 20 little holes at the end of the open section where it met a plate on the end. After tearing into a set its amazing they let air flow through at all. After I pulled mine, I ditched the wrap, cut off the steel sleeve, drilled holes in the end of the baffle itself on the outside, then cut openings on either side of the inner pipe and left the end plate in place so it would fool a broomstick test lol. Sounded pretty loud but not as nicely tuned as slip ons.

Yep. On my Fat Bob, I very carefully drilled the heads off the rivets and pulled out the baffles. I removed all the Fiberglass wrapping and threw it away. I went to the hardware store and got a Hole saw that just fit the inside diameter of the baffle and a drill extension. I used this to drill the plug out of the baffle. I then reassembled the mufflers with new pop rivets.

It was an improvement sound wise. The bike ran just fine.

I have seen this done on a couple of bikes and was considering doing it to mine as well it added just enough sound to let cars know your on the road and it is cheeper than buying new slip ons.
