I was running the bike the other day tuning up my TFI and noticed the pipe right where it meets the cylender was glowing red-hot under the heat sheild. It was running at a stand still for about 15 minutes total but find it a bit odd for it to get that hot. Thoughts? Is this normal. I am running python 2 into 1's with the TFI at the stage 1 settings (+1 from the manual for idle and cruise) on a 2007 Superglide.
I usually don't but I was
1) trying out my new heated gear and used the origonal battery tender cable [fuse blew so I wired the gerbing hookup and tried again]
2) adjusting the TFI [that took all of 5 minutes]

Boxjoint,
Yeah, thats way too hot, if you ever find yourself in that position again, remember those old window fans ? the boxfan types ? get one about $20 or so, set in in front of the bike, (outside) set it on high, that should buy you some extra time.
mine glow all the time after been running it for say a hr or more in summer .i have had the dwnload.hasnt affected it yet 1 more yr of warranty so in 30k miles or more will tell got 18.5 on it now
It does have the TFI unit and it started to glow before I actually reduced the mixture a bit. I don't expiereience any backfiring or pinging so I think it might just have been running too long without airflow.

I was thinking about that but the laziness took over! next time I am doing an extended running work on the bike I will sit the box fan in front of it.
Lord knows we've all been in a hurry to see the end result and overlooked the basics. My apoligies if it sounded like I was lookin' down on you cause I've done the same kinda thing myself many times.
