wish you had the ability to keep both, that sporty is really nice. BUT, I have both a sporty and a dyna...and never ride the sporty. granted, mine isn't a new one, and its not an iron (which i love), but you can't ride both, and no point in keeping it if you will never ride it.

enjoy your new dyna dude, what will the dealer take for trade in on your sporty? probably more than you will get on Craigslist...people on there be stingy...you could always return it to stock, and sell the extra parts you bought for it.

Hey ya'll, here's a pic of the FXDXI I bought today for $8000. Like I mentioned in a previous post, it's a salvage title which I suspect played a big part in the low price but it came with a ton of extras, including TH, K&N air cleaner, extra seat, sissy bar, race tuner, mags, 16" tbars, factory alarm, grips, SE brace etc etc. The bike only has 6700 miles. I'm taking it to HD tomorrow for a thorough inspection so I suppose I will know for sure if it's a diamond or a lemon...

All that said, I rode it about 60 miles today. Super comfortable, I am amazed at how it handled the bumps compared to the Sporty, although I feel like the Sporty is quicker on take-off. But the sound coming out of this thing is monstrous. I think I'm going to call it Moses cause when I was splitting the lanes, cars were getting out of the way like Moses parting the seas lol.

Thanks again to everyone for chiming in.

Buck

Yeah I wish I could keep both. I love that Sporty and the more I think of someone else riding off with it, the more I want to keep it...

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion but I sold all the stock parts already. The dealer gave me a trade in value way less than what I'm asking on Craigslist so I'll see if I get a bite. I'm asking 11k which is a lot but the bike is less than a year old and it's got some nice mods. Fingers crossed!

I'd say go for it. My first bike was an '05 Sportster 1200C which I rode for a couple of years before upgrading to my '08 Street Bob. I absolutely *love* the Street Bob. It's a much better and more comfortable ride for me. I'm the exact same height and weight you are and the Street Bob fits me perfectly. It's great for long trips (did an 8-day, 2400 mile trip on it last year) as well as just cruising around town. I'd would definitely spring for some forward controls on it so you can stretch out. I rode a 2012 FXDB last year at a Demo Days even with stock mid-controls and hated it.
