I picked the Big City Thunder Quality Quiet... and same here, just a little less roar, but deeper, not as harsh and I noticed when I'm at a red light (next to a squad car), and keep it at idle, and take off nice, it's not bad at all.
Also asked my neighbors and none of them said a word... a few said "Oh Yu Have a Bike". Made Me Happy! But I always keep revs down around the house.
Comparing the V&H stock to the "quiets" you would think there would be a big difference. At idle and cruise they knock off a few decibels but when you get on the throttle hard there's not that much difference.
They make a pretty significant difference. I just removed mine after about a month of running them. I will say the only thing I don't like about them though is they make your bike sound like you have an exhaust leak at idle.....At least that what it reminds me of. Kind of a weird sound.
I just installed the Vance Hines Big Shots on my 2011 wide glide and they sound great, but when at idle and slow take off and stopping speeds they sound like the bike is running in a large empty warehouse. For what i have been reading about the quiet baffles it seems like that would go away some but keep most of the loudness and nice cruising sound. True or not? And any suggestions on which quiet baffles to go with? Thanx in advance
I bought a set of 8" long universal baffles from jp once, they were very quiet, ended up cutting them down to about 5" to get some sound, but keep the neighbors happy. I was working nights at the time
