Hey guys i wondering if anyone has attempted this yet, i have a post previously about the signal relocation kit for my 2011 fxdc, it is the clamp style kit. i was wondering if anyone has tried to intall them right under the upper tree now i have not yet installed the kit but when i line it up it looks as if it will clear just unsure if when the bike is started up with the vibaration of the bike cause the the back of the signal to hit the gas tank? so im just curious to know if anyone has it installed that way without a problem or they have run into the problem with the signals hitting the gas tank, because i know if it is placed at the very top it does clear the tank not by much but it does make it just don't know if when i start it will it hit the tank. hopefully someone has tried it and can let me know thanks again
So you're relocating frt signals to the forks and worried about the tank hitting them due to vibrations? The tank is solid mounted and should not move. If your bike vibes THAT much you may have an issue.
or is it clearance when the handlebars are turned all the way? My sporty never even came close...
My Dyna yes I relocated but with the HD ones that extend out. I am not sure if I understand, but I do not see ANY clearance issues for this. You tell me if I am wrong.
sorry i didnt answer back soon i been busy, see on i have the relocation kit and i want to relocate them under the top tree my bike doesnt vibrate to the extreme it's the same as any bike and im not worried about the tank moving that i know is not going to move my concern is if i relocate them that high that when the handlebars are fully turned and i start the bike is the signals gonna tap agianst the gas tank and scratch the tank, i really do not want to relocate them by the bottom tree i like the look when they are up higher, i have matched it up and it seems that it is going to clear but like i said when a bike starts there is movement to the bike because the motor is on so when it is in the parked postition handlebars fully turned one way do you know if the signals will tap against the gas tank or will it but very close but not hit
The Kuykakyn clamps allow signal mounting to the rear or front of the fork tube. Mine are mounted just above the bottom tree, behind the tube and give a good 2" of clearance with bars fully cranked. (shown in pics below)
I'm thinkin' you'll be fine with yer plan given the versility and options available. Good luck with it.
looks good im sure now that i have the opinion of everyone that i shouldn't have a problem but there is only one way to find out is to try it out, i been wanting to do it but the instructions are talking about striping wires and **** and i have never been good with wiring so im gonna have them done when i have my handlebars installed but thanks for the insight when it's all done i will post the pictures up hopefully it can answer some other people's questions on the relocation kit, thanks again
You can fit them pretty much anywhere you like, under the top triple clamp, above or below the lower clamp by just flipping them upside down if needed or not. Before I installed my bar end signals I had the HD kit installed like you want to and it works fine, not at all too close to the tank which is why I moved them after installing those FXDL bars on stock risers.......with that combo they would touch the tank.
When workin' with that wiring, be careful and if you see smoke, stop. I think them turn signals run on smoke cause I let all the smoke out of my wiring and everything electrical quit workin'... lol and good luck on the switch-out.
yes it worked i had to use the left side on the right and right on the left.. the clamps that is and it worked fine, i had to so that so that i can get the wire threw the opening in the clamp
