Default Changes After Installing Extended Forwards

I'm 6'4", 230 lbs and I just changed the mids on my 2002 Low Rider to the Kuryakn Extended forward controls. Last night, I took my first ride since the install and thought I noticed some changes. Could the following changes be noticed after going to forwards?

1. The bike feels like its got more pep. I"m getting a little kick when I change gears that I didn't feel before. I realize I removed a few pounds when I took off the mid peg mounts but that doesn't seem to be enough weight to make a difference. The only other think I can think of is that my new seating position has me leaning back a little more, taking weight off the front and causing the front to raise a little when I shift. Any thoughts?

2. The bike seems less stable. I know "legs up" is less stable than "legs down" BUT, before making the changes, I was riding with my legs on highway pegs that are in the same position as my new forwards, shifting and braking with my heal, so my legs are in basically the same position and yet it doesn't feel as solid. I notice that if I give the handlebars a little wiggle, I feel it all the way back to the rear end and I never noticed this before. Any thoughts?

Let me throw in one my variable: Just before doing my forwards, I installed a side mount license plate frame. I removed the rear axle nut, put the frame in place and then put the axle nut back on using a torque wrench set at 60lbs. I do not have a jack so I did this while the bike was leaning on its kickstand. I then had someone straddle the bike and hold it upright while I tightened again with the torque wrench set at 60lbs. Following this install, I rode the bike and felt no differences in the ride. I am just sharing this so you have all the information at hand when trying to determine the cause of my problem. Thanks for the help!

1. I notice that my lean back position has caused me to release the clucth a little harder causing a torque reaction. It is not more pep "per se"
2. its like going from TRON to EASYRIDER.

Did you align the rear wheel after you loosened it? Anytime you play with the rear it is a good practice to check alignment.

@8541hog
No, I didn't check the alignment. I will get out the service manual and give it a shot. I'm figuring all this out as I go. The forwards installation was my first major mod. I'm a newbie but I'd rather learn as I go than pay someone to do the work and never learn anything. Thanks to all for the help. P.S. Those V-Bars are BaddASS!

Thanks, as much time as I have in them, it's always nice to hear.
Big part of the pleasure is learning how to do your own wrenching, well at least it was for me when I started.
Best way to learn is actually doing it, as long as you don't get yourself hurt...

I took her out for a few hours today and I think everything is ok. I just had to get used to a little different feel. It seems to lean quicker/easier with my legs up and out. I've got a service due in a couple hundred miles so I will have the alignment checked then.

On another note: I was doing about 70 today on the interstate and as I slowed to enter an off-ramp, I downshifted and my shifter went limp. I looked down and the rear end of my shift linkage had disconnected. The nut was gone and it had totally un-threaded itself. I couldn't believe it. When I put the forwards on, I double checked all nuts and bolts. I could understand if the nut worked it self loose but the bolt actually threads though the shifter and it had unscrewed itself an entire 1/2 inch. Luckily, a guy at a gas station had a wrench and I connected it back. As soon as I got home, I made a tool kit and put it on my bike.

That nut should be a nylock or jamb nut so that does not happen, a regular nut is not going to be as reliable.
