I purchased a 2012 Dyna Super Glide Custom from Rommels HD in Smyrna, DE on 04/17/12. Went today 05/04/12 to pick up the tags and registration, about an 80 mile round trip. I was making a U-turn about 1/4 mile from my house, noise and vibration came from the rear wheel, pushed the rest of way to house. HOW CONVENIENT, DIDN'T HAVE TO GET MY PICK UP TRUCK, LOL. The 4 bolts in the rear wheel belt drive sprocket backed out, with only 334 miles on it. Broke before the 500 mile break in period, LOL. My uncle always said " If you own a Harley, you better own a pick up truck. Well, I do. Anyway, the rear wheel is F*#QD, with only 334 miles on it. How much set up does the HD dealer actually do and the MoCo actually do? Before I decide who gets the *** blastin', BOTH AT THIS POINT.
THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL QUALITY IMPROVES.
I would blame the dealer. They are the one that sold you the bike and charged an outrages fee to "build it" I would be chewing some azz and asking for a big gift card.
I believe harleys have great quality compared to the old ones but they have to be serviced properly

I purchased a 2012 FXDC on 4/10, traded one of my Sportsters. They went over my trade before they would commit to a "Firm" price, and commented that they had never had a trade come in that they could not find something wrong with. I negotiated 2K off the Sticker and got a little more than I paid for the 08 Sporty back in Dec of 2010.
Bottom line is I do "all" my own maintenance, and will not be taking the New Bike to an HD Dealer for anything other than Warranty work. I picked up the FXDC on my trailer, and went over the normal check list. I had to adjust the head lamp, Drive Belt, and found a few Critical Fasteners that were not Torqued properly.
With that said, I don't believe anything I had to adjust would have caused a major problem. I have 3 Harleys and believe they make a dependable product.
Just a darn shame when the dealer don't catch the Bloopers. They charge a "Prep Fee".
