This mod really kicked my ___!
For you guys who were able to do the install in 2 or even 3 hours my hat's off to you. I had all the proper tools, and have some mechanical know-how, but I couldn't finish the job until the following morning!
I first started on the rear stabilizer, and it turned out to be a royal pain-in-the-you-know-what, as has been well-documented on this forum. I had to remove my muffs and the muff bracket. I also needed my wife's pair of hands to assist in installing one of the brackets. I had the bike elevated by a scissors jack to gain more working space, and I also used a floor jack to lift the motor/tranny to reduce tension on the bolts that needed to be swapped, but even with all that it was awkward at best. I'll admit I got a little frustrated, but never to the point of wanting to throw a wrench across the garage. Thankfully the front was much easier, so all's well that ends well.
Now for the "Big Question" - was it worth it? At start up I noticed just a trace more vibration at idle and at low rpm operation, but nothing that comes close to being objectionable. I took the bike out to one of my favorite hi-speed sweepers, but could only do 70mph because of traffic, so no answer there. I then took some twisties near my home at a fairly good pace and concluded that the rear end does seem to be a little more planted and not so skittish, especially when hitting sharp bumps or ruts in the road. I will need more road time to make a better determination.
For sure it won't hurt, and maybe over time I will come to appreciate it more and more. One thing for certain: it doesn't feel like my old FXR, at least not yet anyway.

You're not the first I have heard of having a tough time.....
Best mod ever. Do it.
I will caution ya.... After talking to the True Track people, their biggest concern is mileage. If ya have too many miles then you may need new rubber mounts since the lack of proper stabilization could have ruined them. That's not saying you shouldn't get one anyway, just that you'll want new mounts too. They also said their guys can do it in a little over an hour, your local shop in no more than 2, but a shade tree may be as many as 4.
