its kind of a personal preference thing. You will get 20 responses all saying something different. I am 5' 9 1/2 inches tall 32 inseam. I use the mid controls with adjustable hwy pegs set the the farthest position back. You might do ok with reduced reach forward controls since that seems a cheaper option. Good luck with the new ride and welcome to the dyna life.

had an 06 FXDBI, about the same height as you are...comfort and having legs stretched out have great positive impact compared to mid-controls setup where it makes you prop up...

I'm 5'6 also. My suggestion is mids for control, then have a cheap (or expensive) set of hway pegs for comfort if you need it.

I'm 5'7" and my street bob had mids when I bought it. I wasn't comfortable with them and put on the reduced reach forwards. Love em.

I'm 6'1" and switched to mids a few months ago and couldn't be happier. Bought mine on ebay for $60 practically new take offs but I guess if your primary cover isn't set up for the shifter then it'll be considerably more expensive. Tough call I'd go test ride one of each before making the decision most dealers will be more than understanding of your situation.
