I have 05 super glide and would like to put a 7" headlight on. Want to see what it would look like or if anyone has done it. Does anyone have or has seen this on a super glide before they widened the forks out?
the OP stated he has the '05 model which has the 39mm narrow glide front end like the one I have on my '05. The mod does look alright on the newer models, see the pics above, they are bottom mount.
The headlights we have are top mounted, that is they are fastened on the top triple tree. You could tap a thread in the bottom triple tree and attach the 7" that way, or change the bottom tree.
I have heard of the bottom tree being tapped but I have never seen it done. Not sure how it would look....
I have been gathering bits for a few years to fit a FL style front end which is a wide glide, to fatten up the front of the bike with that headlight

All right I was wondering if it would be something weird because of that narrow front end. Bundy Bruiser do you know when they made superglide front end wider?
Search on the sportster section. Some guys there have done it and they have the narrow glide 39mm front end. I'm kind of torn on it myself. I have looked at some aftermarket cafe style and Japanese headlights that mount with tabs on the sides. They aren't as deep as the fat boy light and look a little better IMHO. I may try it out in the future.
Added 7" last night to my 07 Low. NO WIRES need to be cut. Just remove metal ends from connector (release tabs) inside the light bowl, pull out and reinstall in new housing. Took maybe 30 minutes being careful not to mess up grommet
