So I wanna try to work out if I am getting film flamed here.
Long story short, I sent an aux light bar to get powdered vivid black. That was 3 weeks ago. Every time I ask what the delay is I keep being told they are having trouble getting the powder to go on evenly and stay on.
Last call to them I was told the bar had been sent to get sand blasted so they can try on a blasted surface and hopefully the powder will work this time. I questioned why it didn't work on the blasted surface the first time and they guy told me they had not blasted it before, just "cleaned it up" with an acid bath and rubbing it down.
Here's the thing, the chrome on the bar was pretty ratty to begin with, surface rust showing through in a couple of spots and the chrome flaking at the top of one of the brackets.
Shouldnt they have sand blasted the thing to begin with and avoided the delay? Can't wait to see the bill and if it includes multiple powder attempts
Sounds like a less-than-reputable place (or new at the powder coating game) to me. Yes, considering the shape the piece was in, they should have blasted it right off the bat. Multiple coats of powder? That's not a good thing. They shouldn't charge you for their mistakes. Give it a good look-over when you pick it up. I'm thinking $20-$25 should be plenty.

Man, I only WISH it would be that cheap over here. Was originally quoted 90 bucks, which believe it or not is not actually a bad price here.
You're probably right in that they are either new to PCing or they just screwed up and are trying to buy time to fix it.
Just gives me the ***** with the delay, coulda had the whole setup installed and working by now.
Let me tell you I just went throuh this with my exhuast, I went to a place that has been around quite some time. Slip ons and shields Chrome to black powder coat. Long story short blasted 2 times coated 2 different times, went back cause it wasnt sticking, blasted agian and ceramic coated still not sticking how it should...... Bottom line chrome should have come all the way off.
