Help me choose a cam.
So what are the idle characteristics of the TW37G??
When I first fired the bike up after the cam install, the immediate difference was in the exhaust sound. Thebike now had a sound that reminded me of the O.C.C. American Chopper bikes. No kidding, the sound was much more aggressive, the term "lumpy" comes to mind. I cannot say thatthere was any other difference in the idle characteristics. The bike did not seem to shake any more than before, idled well except forthe sound difference.
It did not matter whether one or two up, the bike pulled well from a stop, no apparent loss of low end, but man does this thing run like a raped ape till the rev limiter. She raises herself up to the top of the front suspension movement and hauls down the road at a pace I would not have believed. Smile a mile wide every time I do a full throttle run from a standing start.

Never heard of that one before. Always SAE.

I have Andrews TW-37G's with the S&S Cam Gear Drive.
88 C.I.
Stock heads and intake
Dynojetted CV
SE Stage1 Air Cleaner Kit
SuperTrapp SuperMegs 2:1 exhaust
The 37G's are designed for a 95 C.I. build and a slight compression increase. I am amazed at the currentmotor's performance with the 37's and basically bone stock otherwise. Look at the torque curve on the chart, I cannot complain about the cams at all and look forward to the 98 inch upgrade I will do soon.

Nice solid info on 88" motor. I've been around a while and am not a fan of "bigger is better". I never pull heads without matching the ports and polishing the exhaust. I've been known to do a "little" grinding in the intake and exhaust as well.
Just a thought or two; I don't think that race bikes are fun on the street or street bikes stand a chance on the track. Semi-mild street builds will alow you to smile a lot and not have a tempermental bitch in trafic, no you will not win the stoplight grand prix every time , just most of the time.
Guys with "B" motors (soft tails) don't forget you are already at a 3 or 4 HP disadvantage.
My upcomming build (I'm at Stage I, SE Pro IIs and SE A/C & download): SE 204, Suppertrapp 2 into 1, DFO, .030 head gasket, and mild porting (roounding off any sharp angles and matching the intake port to EFI flange, not sure about the exhaust port matching yet, gotta look at it. Good valve job and maybe a 1.9 intake valve. I think I'll get all the smiles I need on my way to the Social Securiety Office. LOL
So, wudda yaha think, am I as nuts as I look?

What year of Dyna did you put the TW37G cam in?
I'm looking for the agressive sound you describe. I have an 03 Wideglide with Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust with Thunder Monster baffles. I'm trying to get the looping or lumping sound you describe.
Do you have any other mods than the TW37G cam?
Thanks,
JJ
