Default Murphy struck again...now I need help...spoke question???

So everything came in and I started my 21" wheel conversion this morning. Did my research here and on you tube so I thought I was ready. Was off to an ok start, took wheel off, took my own tire off (trying to save as many pennies as possible), and began de-lacing rim. On the last @#$%^& spoke murphy shows up. The nipple was really stuck. I used penetrating oil and took my time with it. Finally decided to twist it off with more force and pop, it snapped off. So now I have 39 good spokes and one bad one. I was hoping I could just buy that one spoke from someone, but I live in a small town and no luck. My local metric shop doesn't sell 'em either and my local Indy shop is an *** if you don't buy everything from them (they don't understand the concept of a motorcycle owner trying to savde money).

So here I am. I need to order a set of spokes because of 1 broken spoke (so much for saving cash). I called Jirech and they have SS spokes in stock for 59.99. Harley wil sell me a set of 20 for 67.50. I have a couple of questions so please help so I can get my scooter off the lift asap (my ride is my daily driver).

1. do I just order spokes for a 19" rim? In other words are they all the same. I know that the stock spokes are two different sizes.

2. what's the best place to order spokes from?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Are you just using the 19" spokes with the 21" rim? Does that work? I assumed they'd be way to short.

I'm planning on doing this same conversion soon.

Yes it works, I'm not talking from experience but several threads on here on that issue. One real good thread that takes you step by step. basically if you're using the jirech 21" rim (pn 30-50) it has a lower drop center which allows for the use of stock spokes if you lace in a 3-1 pattern.

I actually read that thread after I posted here... Somehow I had missed that when I was searching earlier.

TCABELLO is right. The $39 Jireh rim has lowered centers which allow the stock spokes to be re-used. Many of us here have done it.
But based on your thread, reindeer, you don't want to use the jireh rim, so you will most likely have to buy new spokes. Try www.hdwheels.com Give them a call. They have a good reputation on this forum

I meant to direct that site to you too, lol. I don't know if they sell factory size replacements, but their spokes for like 21 and bigger are around 3 or 4 dollars each

well I would love to have done something to set my wheel apart, but I was trying to keep it within a budget and I know fancy spokes cost more.
