So I was thinkin the other day . . . Lets say you are traveling somewhere ( of course on our bikes ) and you need directions to get there ( i kno, guys dont ask for directions). But, you know how mapquest exists with turn by turn directions and maps easy to print out and take with you so you can find the place.
So, where do you all put directions when your goin somewhere new on your bike?
Im just curious as to see what might be the consensus and if anyone has found a trick to it.
I either stick them in my jacket pocket or bring my gps. Have seen several people with tank bags that have a clear pocket on the top for the map to slide into for ez veiwing going down the road.
I have even considered getting a handlebar mount for my Garmin Etrex GPS. It does not have the streets and maps but I can program in coordinates and use the compass thing...it will point when I need to make a turn as long as I have that turn programmed in.
I fold up the days directions with the larger state or area map and zip them up in my jacket. Always there and nothing on my tank. I may get a GPS one of these days on a bar mount but need to much other stuff first
One gallon zip lock bags folded and stuck in the front ofmy jacket. Protected from anything wet and from tearing that way, can insert any other relevant small documents for the mission.
I have a Verizon wireless Razor with the Razorwire bluetooth glasses. For 2.99 a day or 9.99 a month you can have true GPS capabilities. I just got back from a trip to AZ and used it every day....what a life saver and very convienent!
They also have a pair that will play music from your phones MP3 then mute when the phone rings. Pretty cool, very happy with mine especially since you don't have anything hanging on your ear, it's on the sunglasses.
I find it best to let the Ms. plan the trip, that way she takes care of pointing when it's time to turn and if we get lost then it's her fault 'cuz "I don't get lost when she's along", only when I'm by myself.
