I think an S&S 551 or SE255 looks like a great cam for lots of 2-up riding. I rarely ride 2-up, ride a lighter-than-a-dresser bike, and want an increase in torque in the 2000-4000 rpm range.
S&S 570 or 585 if you are at a higher CR seems like what you are looking for.

For those who haven't yet seen it, here's a J&P Cycles/S&S video on cam installation. Excellent video, this level of support does have me shopping for cams on jpcycles.com.

Thanks for the advice, I do like the S&S EZ cams. I was looking at the 583 actually, it looks like it focuses more on the 2-4k range, where the 585 moves up to 3-5k (and higher) range. I bet your bike pulls like hell at higher RPMs.

Related question: Did the EZ-start make a huge difference in starting? Seems like a cool feature, and my bike (stock motor) has always started kind hard.

Mine never started hard, but starts just as easily as it ever has when I went with the EZ Start cams and 10.5:1 compression so I would say they are working.

My bike pulls hardest at around 3500-4500, but there is no lack of torque from 2k-3500 either. I like the ramp on these cams a lot, it makes the bike real easy to ride around town and has the juice when I need it.

I've been comparing cams for over a month now. Not something I want to jump into and then be unhappy about. That video is great

Are you running stock cams in your 95ci with SE heads? Man, cams would wake that thing right up. Do you know what your compression is?

Thumbs up Running S&S 551EZ's, need a bit more torque

I own several twin cams, and have built/cammed/bored all 5 of my Harleys. I wanted to stay mild with my Trike, so I did a 103 w/ flat tops (9.85 to one), .585 lift SE springs, titanium rocker supports, Kury A/C, Supertuner, Rivera primary, Andrews 2 under front sprocket, oil cooler, Lanaile fan, Bub7 stealths, etc. etc. I pull a 700 pound camper, and could use a bit more torque, but want to maintain good behavior at 1700 RPM for manuvering around town and when in reverse. I have a set of 1.7 to 1 rockers on hand, has anyone tried running these with the 551's for a total of 0.584 lift, and is a map available? I'd love to switch to 570EZ's, but am afraid I'd lose too much low end (I suppose I could advance them 4 degrees, anyone tried this?). How do the other EZ cam grinds stack up for torque (and mid/top end)? How's the 557 and 583 grinds? I'd love to drop in the 585's, but I fear I'd be slipping the clutch from here to kingdom come when pulling out from a stop sign. Thanks, Stoood ; )

Hmmm I was talking to Drew at Fire Breathing Industries about stepping up my 103 FXDF. I told him I was looking for 100/107 range and broad performance.
Here is what he suggested:
Although he says the V&H Staggereds sound good, are good quality, and produce decent bottom end torque I am leaving a lot on the table.
Exhaust: Bassani Road Rage Long Megaphone
Tuner: SE Pro Super Tuner
Intake: Stay with my Stage 1 with perhaps an improved element
TB: leave as is
Cams: Dave Mackie 575L with adjustable rods
Heads: For now leave stock
Valve springs: leave stock for now
Dyno will take about 1 hour and he will be knocking on the door of what I am looking for with tire smoking, wheel standing torque and broad power all the way to red line.
I would be interested to hear thoughts from anyone who has run a similar set up on either a 103 or 96.
Bob

That was my impression too. He could have looked at billing far more but instead recommended what to do, where to buy the parts for the least and promised to deliver the results. He was recommended by the HD dealer close by who instead of outsourcing or Subbing the work they don't do to him and marking it up they flat out sent me there (????). Another local builder also recommended him.
Now I would like to read more on the cams he recommended.
I had stated that I was considering the Woods 408-6 and he stated the Dave Mackie 575L just plain produces more Power and Torque over a wider range and torque comes on quicker (lower RPM). I have not been able to find any perfomance #'s on them...yet although the specs look good.
