speedo freaking out

speedo freaking out
hey guys,
2007 fxdc bout 8700 miles, only things done are exhaust and air cleaner.
so i was cruising home on h1 from waikiki and doing about 60 in 5th gear and my speedo started freaking out on me. It went from 60 to 20, then 0 then just ran around. 6th gear light did not come on when i shifted up. Hit traffic so had to downshift, and then when i started going faster it started to work again with me.
searched, and found one result but gonna see whats yalls opinion. should i be worried?
(it was not a very hot day today, if that matters)

It is screwed into the top of your transmission....
Some models are easier than others.On a 5 speed,it's right there.
On mine..a 6 speed.. it is under the starter,which meant I had to remove the exhaust and starter to get at it.
