Hi Guys,
I went to a rally on my 2007 fatboy this weekend after fitting a shotgun shock, after 150 miles I pulled in for gas and after about 5 miles my speedo started going crazy,up and down til it stopped, the 6th gear light also went out and after i drove it hard the orange engine light came on,the turn signals also stopped canceling, when i pulled over and started after a few minutes the speedo worked ok and then stopped after a few miles, stil no 6th gear light, when I let of the power off coming into towns the motor is inclined to cut out,the bike has 8000 miles on it,would I have pulled a wire fitting the shock(which is excellent, dont feel bumps anymore)or is the speed sensor gone or is it worse?????????????
dont want to go down the dealer route if possible
please help
John
Ya,done that, took it out cleaned it,back in,no joy, read up how to do the diagnostic check, got P0501,which is speed sensor, cleared the fault but speedo not working
Ya,sounds like the sensor from what I read on other posts,as well as the speedo packin up did your turn signals stop cancelling or the engine management light light up?
Turn signals quit cancelling, but I don't remember if the engine light had any quirks. I do know that the replacement sensor's wire was 4 times longer than the original was. Had to coil the damn thing up and stuff it out of the way.......
